Daniel's Beard

Daniel

Daniel's Beard is an exciting new chamber ensemble made up of some of Scotland's top musicians and based in Glasgow's West End. In partnership with Four Acres Charitable Trust, Daniel's Beard will have a performance residency at The Cottier Theatre, where, once the renovations are complete, the ensemble will perform regular concerts featuring music that has been at the centre of the chamber music repertoire, but is now rarely played in Scotland. The group is named after the impressive facial hair of Daniel Cottier, the pioneering 19th century designer responsible for the interior of the theatre. With a core line up of violin, clarinet, horn, cello and piano, the group is hugely flexible and can perform repertoire for one to five (or sometimes more) players, covering music from the baroque up to the present day. The players are all familiar faces for any regular audience member at any of Scotland’s orchestras, but they are all passionate and enthusiastic about chamber music and are excited by the possibilities offered by Daniel’s Beard.
