Sax Ecosse

Sax-Ecosse members are graduates of the RSAMD who enjoy a diverse and
varied career outside the quartet including orchestral work with Royal Scottish National Orchestra, New Telford Symphony Orchestra, National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain, folk ensemble Cloud 9, instrumental teaching in local schools and music trusts, and outreach music projects such as Feis nan Gaidheal and Drake Music Project Scotland.
Since its formation in 2004, Sax-Ecosse has enjoyed considerable success as a chamber ensemble winning the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music Governor’s Recital Prize for Chamber Music in 2005, and was awarded the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music. Finalists in the Saxtet Publication’s Saxophone Quartet Competition 2004 they performed at British Saxophone Congress 2005, being showcased as one of the new emerging British Saxophone Quartets. Sax-Ecosse take pleasure in delivering varied recitals throughout the UK and has recently returned from Slovenia performing a program of contemporary Scottish works in the 14th World Saxophone Congress. Their current projects include working with contemporary Scottish composers for new works for the saxophone quartet and education workshops in schools and communities with Artlink Scotland and as part of the acclaimed Live Music Now! scheme. Previous engagements include the Fringe Festival recitals, West End Festival at Oran Mor, Perth Music Society, the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Usher Hall, Edinburgh.
Sax-Ecosse has been given generous assistance from The Musicians’ Benevolent Fund, The Cross Trust, Scottish International Trust and the Hope Scott Trust which has allowed them to further their development as a quartet.
Sax-Ecosse is available for recitals and/or functions, and is a unique alternative to the more traditional string quartet. We have a large varied repertoire ranging from Baroque transcriptions to light jazz.
